We Make College Easier

The Higher Foundation promotes post-secondary education by providing financial assistance to Georgia college students. We assist students with their cost of attendance and cost of living expenses with our need-based grants and merit-based scholarships. Since May 2018, we have served over 1,000 Georgia college students and awarded $33,000 in grants & scholarships. With our services, we aim to help Georgia college students overcome post-secondary education attainment barriers and attain a higher education and higher possibilities.

Higher Education, Higher Possibilities

At The Higher Foundation, we believe in the value of higher education. With higher education comes higher possibilities, and every Georgian should have the opportunity to attain both. If Georgians do not have the financial means for their cost of attendance and cost of living expenses, their chances at college admission, college retention, and college completion are greatly hindered by financial strain, resource scarcity, food insecurity, housing instability, and academic stress. At The Higher Foundation, we aim to remove these post-secondary education attainment barriers with our need-based grants and merit-based scholarships, so Georgians from all walks of life can go higher.

The Need for Need-Based Financial Aid

Based on the fact sheets for Georgia Higher Education, “Georgia is one of only two states that lack broad need-based financial aid, and nearly 112,000 students deal with unmet financial need.” That is why we work diligently to provide need-based aid to all Georgia college students, no matter their race, income, GPA, ethnicity, age, sexuality, or religion within The Higher Foundation Grant. All Georgia college students are eligible to request a grant to financially assist them with their cost of attendance and cost of living expenses because we believe all Georgians should have access to a higher education and higher possibilities.

The grant money really helped me as I started to obtain more financial responsibilities by moving off campus, putting my health first, and becoming more independent. Financial support really can lift a weight off people’s shoulders as they deal with other situations, and I am forever grateful for the support I got from Higher Foundation. I also had the honor of meeting Mallorye when she dropped off Back to College Kits to Serve-Learn-Sustain where I work on campus. Again, I love seeing the dedication and love people have for reaching back and helping others!

Higher Alum, Georgia Institute of Technology

Thank you to the entire committee of Higher Foundation and their contributions to my academics as a scholar and my future profession. Higher Foundation granted me with the funds to purchase my textbooks for this academic semester.

Higher Alum, Clark Atlanta University

The Higher Foundation has provided nothing but endless opportunities for me, and I am incredibly grateful that they continue to extend their kindness to me. By receiving a finals week gift box, it helped me to relieve some stress in an overwhelming part of the semester. I am incredibly grateful for the grant provided to me to help me go higher in my education as finding the money to cover transportation to my college, as a commuter student, can be incredibly difficult. Thank you all again!
